Guangzhou Painted Porcelain was invented during the period between the reign of the emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) by integrating all the techniques of painted porcelain.

Possessing the characteristics of rich color, clear features, and noble quality, Guangzhou Painted Porcelain is one of the most popular varieties of China's exported porcelain.

It was listed among the second batch of national intangible cultural heritages under the approval of the State Council in June 2008.
