The 11th Art Canton Contemporary Art Fair is underway at the Liuhua Exhibition & Trade Center, Yuexiu district (广州越秀流花展贸中心) and will run through the weekend.

An important part of the 2020 Guangzhou Cultural Industry Fair, the fair gathers together over 20 art institutions and around 100 domestic and overseas artists in the event this year. Visitors are able to take a close look at more than 1,000 spectacular modern art pieces, including paintings and artistic installations, in the art carnival.

The earliest established province-level art event in China, the Guangdong Arts Festival celebrates its 14th birthday this year with a complex of drama shows, operas and exhibitions running through December 6.

Baizi Opera (白字戏), a national intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in Shanwei city; Hakka Mountain Songs (Shan Ge) Opera (山歌剧), a provincial ICH in Meizhou city; and Chaozhou Opera (潮剧), as well as music dramas, ballet dance performances and concerts, are scheduled at theaters across the province to heat up this province-wide artistic party.

The art fest's supporting event, the Outstanding Fine Art Exhibition, also is in full swing at Guangdong Museum of Art, running till December 13. It boasts some 196 selected works of painting, calligraphy and sculpture, including some award winners. Spectators to the exhibit will be given an overview of traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolour painting, calligraphy and seal cutting, sculpture and multimedia.
