Second Macao China International Digital Cinema Festival and Entertainment Technology Expo

On the sidelines of the 16th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair at the Venetian Macao, local and regional media gathered to learn more about the highly anticipated return of the Macao China International Digital Cinema Festival and Entertainment Technology Expo.

In its second year, the event will particularly focus on the exciting developments in the world of 3D cinema and will bring a host of internationally renowned names from Hollywood and the Chinese film industry for symposiums, keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops, motion picture screenings and gala banquets and receptions.

"The festival is committed to creating a platform to enhance and encourage the development and production of digital and new technology motion picture and broadcast content, between China, Hollywood, and Asia”, announced the Festival Chairman, Jeffrey Greene. “By bringing together such key elements as directors, producers, writers, actors, post production producers, supervisors and technical experts, international capital and of course the latest developments in cutting edge technology we hope to develop the festival and expo into a festival brand with respected international appeal and influence”, he added.

Special guest speakers at this year’s festival will include Randall Dark, considered a leading pioneer of HD and 3D cinematography; award winning director, cinematographer and digital 3D innovator Scott Billups; Elizabeth Avellan, one of the most successful female motion picture producers in Hollywood, and many more big names in the industry. The event will be covered by ‘Hello Hollywood’, a cable TV channel in China reaching an audience of 380 million viewers.

Leading a workshop on Day 3 of the Festival, Ted Shilowitz, founding member of Red Digital Cinema will showcase the all new RED EPIC camera, which is revolutionizing 4K cinematography. Screening super high resolution 4K footage with 4K projection, this event will be the first of its kind in Asia. Attendees will be treated to a fascinating Q&A session with Cass Warner Sperling, daughter of legendary producer Milton Sperling and niece of the Warner brothers, following the screening of her film ‘The Brothers Warner’, which provides an intimate portrayal of the Warner family’s life and cultural legacy.

Finally the Festival will also inaugurate the development of the Pearl River Delta Motion Picture and Broadcast Society, to promote develop and support the arts and sciences of motion picture and broadcast industries.

"This program will initially focus on the cities of Macau, Zhuhai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and aims to establish active links with similar societies and institutions within the region and around the world, generating a powerful creative network and knowledge base, and thus stimulating and promoting the development of the motion pictures and broadcasting industry of the PRD region,” explained Jeffrey Greene, a codirector of the society.

About the Festival

The Second edition of the Macao China International Digital Cinema Festival, is organized by Burma Road Productions which specializes in developing and producing motion picture and broadcast content in both China and the U.S., and Randall Dark Productions, which is internationally recognized as a pioneering leader in digital and HD digital production and post-production technology and methodology. The Festival is coorganized by China ACG Group Co., Ltd., China Central News, Documentary and Film Studio & Group, China Radio and TV Association, Documentary Council, China Film Equipment Corporation, China Academy Awards, Yuan Cheng Media and the China 3D Industry Association and is supported by government bodies such as State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, the Macao Government Tourist Office, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Bureau of Telecommunications Regulation.
