From March 1 to 3, The 2012 Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) will be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex. The international pavilion and theme pavilion will open to the public on March 3, while the domestic pavilion will open to public from March 1 to 3.

With an exhibition area of 22,000 sq. m, the fair will have nearly 700 exhibitors. The international pavilion will welcome some new comers including the travel agencies and tourism bureaus of Canada, America, Russia, Israel and Iceland.

As a partner of the 2012 Sino-Russian Tourism Year promotion, the Russian Tourism Bureau will stage traditional folk dances. Culinary elements are another attraction, so delicacies from many countries will be presented. Michelin Star chefs from Spain will be invited to the fair with their local gourmet food.

To lure more visitors, the foreign exhibitors from Germany, Britain, Malaysia, India and Singapore have incorporated video websites to promote the places. Tourism promoting clips and micro-movies will be screened in the interactivity zone. The selection of "My Favorite Video" will announce its winner on the last day.

The domestic pavilion will be divided according to the promotions in and outside the Guangdong Province. Journeys along the high-speed rail will be highlighted at the fair. Among them are two mature journeys – Beijing and Shanghai as well as Guangzhou and Wuhan. Days itinerary within the Pearl River Delta Region are featured with similar cultural and tourism resources.

Besides promoting tourism, the fair will also build up an exposition to showcase Asian international hotels. Test drives of sightseeing electric cars like the Segway, X-Robot and Ostrich are available. The admission fee is RMB 20 with coupons and RMB 30 without coupons.
