Materials for the victory ceremony of the 16th Asian Games, including the medals, ceremony costumes, the bouquet, the podium and the tray, were unveiled at Guangzhou No. 2 Children's Palace on Wednesday (September 29) afternoon. The materials were presented during a mock victory ceremony with announcement in both Chinese and English.

The gold, silver and bronze medals are themed Haishang Silu, or "Maritime Silk Road".

The face of the medals features the Emblem of the Olympic Council of Asian and Guangzhou's kapok flower which are fused together as an organic whole. The two are circled by a dancing dragon and a dancing eagle, vividly carved above the five Olympic rings.

The back of the medals features the Guangzhou 2010 Emblem and a boat on the sea. Guangzhou, the starting place of Maritime Silk Road, has been an important commercial centre and port in South China and a window linking Chinaand the world since ancient times. More recently, it is known as the forefront of China's reform and opening up. The whole picture showcases Guangzhou's time-honoured history and pioneer spirit. The design of the back highlights traditional Chinese culture with waves in auspicious pattern.

Ceremony costumes

Costumes of the medal/flower bearer and the flag bearer are themed Xingyun Liushui, or "Floating Clouds and Flowing Water".

Using the colouring technique of Yunran, the costume of the medal/flower bearer features bright transitional colours between blue, green and yellow. Blue symbolises the Pearl River while green and yellow remind people of Guangzhou's subtropical images.

The tray is themed Peiyu Pan, or "Jade Pendant Tray". Without raised edges, the streamlined tray is hung with two duplicate Nanyue King Jade Pendants. Made of acrylic materials as well, it looks in great harmony with the podium.

Xu Ruisheng, Executive Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) and Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, and Gu Shiyang, Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC and Guangzhou Municipal Government, witnessed the unveiling of the victory ceremony materials with relevant GAGOC staff and volunteers.
