A new axis slices into the heart of Tianhe!
Liede Bridge opened to traffic at 10am this morning. It shouldn't take long before the latest addition to Guangzhou's infrastructure becomes a popular route connecting northern and southern Guangzhou, relieving pressure on Guangzhou Dadao. People living in Panyu can now reach Huacheng Avenue, the Panzhou Complex and the CBD in a matter of minutes thanks to the connections between Xinguang Expressway, Liede Bridge and Jianghai Avenue.
A house owner in Panyu happily told our reporter that: "it only takes 8 minutes to drive back home now thanks to the bridge. Almost 6 or 7 kilometers have been cut-off my journey."
To guarantee that traffic runs smoothly, a representative from Xinguang Expressway reminds people that it is forbidden for "cars to turn around at Shiliugang road" but that vehicles heading north "can turn around at The Guangdong People's Hospital No.2", and those southbound at Jude Lu crossing.
As for pedestrians, they will have to wait a little bit longer before being able to stroll across Liede Bridge, gazing down at the Pearl River.
