A large sculpture theme park featuring forams opened in Sanxiang, a town in Zhongshan. It is believed to be the first of such parks in China and maybe even in the world.
Foraminifera, forams for short, are marine microorganisms which come in many different shapes and forms but which need to be observed under the microscope to be fully appreciated. In China, they are also known as the "Little Giant in the Sea."
There are 114 sculptures inside the park representing forams from across 5 oceans and some are from a number of countries including China, Russia, America, Cuba, New Zealand, France and Italy. 6 recently discovered forams from the Holocene Epoch were found in Sanxiang.
