Ask a Chinese friend what heralds "Mid-Autumn Festival," and the answer may vary. But for residents in Guangzhou, it is the warm glow of hand-made lanterns lining Guangxiao Road — a tradition that lights up the city every single year.

Crafted from bamboo or wire frames wrapped in paper or fabric, these lanterns come in every shape imaginable: goldfish, rabbits, even the mythical Ao Fish straight out of Chinese folklore.
