Typhoon Dolphin (the 13th named storm of the season), which formed on July 27, has intensified into a strong typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near its center.

According to China's Central Meteorological Observatory, the typhoon has not brought significant impacts to China as of August 5. It is forecast to pass through the Ryukyu Islands and enter the East China Sea on August 6 or 7, after which its track and effects remain highly uncertain.
From midweek onward, as subsiding air on the typhoon's outer edge takes hold, Guangzhou will turn increasingly hot and dry.

Guangzhou weather forecast (August 5 to 10, 2026):

Across Guangdong province, showers will become isolated on August 5 and 6 as temperatures rise, with highs of 30 to 33°C in western Guangdong and 34 to 36°C elsewhere.
Residents are advised to carry umbrellas for the next two days and prepare for hotter conditions later in the week as the typhoon's trajectory continues to be monitored.
