Swan Lake: Moscow Ballet brings the classic to Guangzhou this July

On July 5, the world-renowned Moscow Ballet will bring its classic masterpiece Swan Lake (《天鹅湖》) to Guangzhou, presenting an artistic feast on pointe for audiences.

In Swan Lake, the female lead will perform dual roles: the pure white swan Odette and the cunning black swan Odile. Among them, the black swan solo features the highly demanding 32 fouettés, a dazzling display of technical prowess often regarded as the "touchstone" for measuring a ballerina's skill.

Adapted from the fairy tale Der geraubte Schleier (The Stolen Veil) by German writer Johann Karl August Musäus, the ballet tells a legendary story of a swan maiden brimming with mystery and fantasy. The father of musical creation Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed the immortal score based on this story.
