Dive into the world of Dear You: a must-watch film now with a special exhibition in Guangzhou

Highly recommended for everyone to experience this touching movie! Dear You (《给阿嬷的情书》) has recently gone viral in China, with its box office surpassing 200 million yuan unexpectedly.

Set against the backdrop of Qiaopi culture (侨批, a unique combination of family letters and remittances sent by overseas Chinese) and the historic exodus of Chaoshan people to Nanyang (Southeast Asia), this Chaoshan-dialect movie has deeply resonated with audiences.

From now until the end of May, a special exhibition featuring props from Dear You is on display at the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Museum.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: Siam, Chaoshan, and Qiaopi. It showcases props used in the film that echo its story, creating an immersive Nanyang aesthetic space where visitors can deeply experience the tales of overseas Chinese who crossed vast oceans while their hearts remained tied to their hometowns.

Here, you can see familiar scenes from the movie recreated in their original settings, read the heart-stirring words of letters that traveled thousands of miles, and immerse yourself in the sincere, decades-spanning bonds of Musheng, Shurou, and Nanzhi.
