The special fifth-anniversary edition of the play Love in a Fallen City (《倾城之恋》), directed by Oscar-winning art director Tim Yip, is set to be staged in Guangzhou on June 5 and 6. Adapted from Eileen Chang's classic novella, the play has garnered widespread attention and critical acclaim since its premiere in 2021.

It is more than a love story. Compared with the 2021 edition, the new production focuses more intently on the inner world of Bai Liusu (the heroine), revisiting her struggles within family, marriage, and love through a female perspective.

Five years later, this stage work — acclaimed as "a grand experiment of time and space" — will return to audiences with sharper storytelling and a more nuanced female perspective.

From May to June, the special fifth-anniversary edition of Love in a Fallen City will tour six cities: Xiamen, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuhan, and Chengdu.
