On May 4, the Prix Versailles announced its 2026 list of the World's Most Beautiful Museums, honoring seven institutions worldwide. Two of them are in China — both located in Guangdong province — the Guangzhou Xuelei Fragrance Museum and the Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum.

Guangzhou Xuelei Fragrance Museum, situated in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, features a striking cluster of red-brick cylindrical volumes inspired by the shape of a modern perfume still.

Unlike traditional museums that emphasize looking, this one turns a visit into a journey of scent. Spanning 9,500 square meters, the museum offers 18 themed zones, more than 50 interactive installations, and over 300 scent stations, inviting visitors to wander, sniff, and sample as they go — a true full-sensory adventure.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious global awards in architecture and design, the Prix Versailles has been presented annually at UNESCO headquarters since 2015.
