Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway Southern Extension Line opens

BY :South

UPDATED :2026-01-30

The Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway Southern Extension Line officially opened, with its inaugural train departing from Guangzhou Baiyun Station on January 28, 2026. It is the first intercity railway to begin operations in Guangzhou this year.

The Southern Extension Line stretches 22 kilometers and serves four stations: Shenshan (神山站), Jianggao (江高站), Baiyunhu (白云湖站), and Guangzhou Baiyun (广州白云站). It now operates seamlessly with the existing Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, extending the total line length to 79.9 kilometers and connecting key transport hubs. The extension is expected to boost Guangzhou-Qingyuan integration and support Qingyuan's closer ties with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The railway operates under an "all-stops + express" high-frequency service model. Express trains primarily stop at Guangzhou Baiyun Station, Huadu Station (花都站), and Qingcheng Station (清城站), with an additional stop at Feixia Station (飞霞站) during peak hours. The railway runs 72 trains daily, with an average interval of 27 minutes. Express services from Guangzhou Baiyun Station take approximately 16 minutes to Huadu Station, 34 minutes to Qingcheng Station, and 48 minutes to Feixia Station. Travelers can easily connect to the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway and conventional rail services at Guangzhou Baiyun Station.
