The 2026 themed promotion "Celebrating the Spring Festival with Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and Savoring the Chinese New Year," together with the ICH Chinese New Year Goods Shopping Month is now underway in Guangzhou.

The event creates a one-stop new scenario for cultural and tourism consumption, bringing together local delicacies, specialty New Year goods, and traditional New Year attire, allowing the ICH to be seen, tasted, and touched.

Huacheng Square, known as Guangzhou's "urban living room", is now transformed into a large-scale "ICH Trendy Market" for a three-day run. It features three themed exhibition areas — "Savoring the Chinese New Year," "New Looks in New Attire," and "China-chic Trendy Goods" — showcasing over 130 ICH projects from across the country.

The ICH market highlights the three major Lingnan ICH culinary traditions from Cantonese, Chaoshan, and Hakka. Visitors can not only taste iconic dishes like Cantonese cured meat (lap mei) and Shantou braised goose, but also participate in hands-on experiences such as tea brewing and kueh making.

In addition, ten tourism routes focusing on Guangdong ICH and New Year Customs have been launched for the first time, connecting ICH landmarks across the province to offer immersive cultural tourism experiences. ICH-themed cultural tourism consumption vouchers are also available for on-site spending, covering cultural and creative products, gourmet food, and experiential study tours.

The event aims to elevate Lingnan's intangible cultural heritage onto the national stage, making traditional culture both accessible and appealing to a wider audience during the Spring Festival holiday.
