Food delivery takes flight: your order lands in 10 minutes!

On December 25, Guangzhou's Haizhu district officially launched the country's first "aggregate delivery" route for drones. Using this service, customers can order and receive drone-delivered food instantly, with no extra delivery fees.
"My first 'flying food' experience was amazing! I placed an order through the drone delivery section on the Taobao Now app and got it in about 10 minutes. It was super fast, and really novel," said Mr. Liu, a Haizhu resident, after trying the new "food-by-air" service.
Reportedly, this particular order traveled from a location 6 kilometers away. By using the newly opened Poly Plaza–Huaxin Center flight route, the drone delivery cut the trip time by over 50% compared to ground delivery, which would have taken more than 20 minutes by bike and passed through 15 traffic lights.
