Passenger volume through Guangzhou's Baiyun Airport immigration checkpoint has surpassed 15 million this year as of November 15, marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 20% and making it the country's second-busiest airport.
More than 8.9 million Chinese citizens traveled via the airport, up 11.9%, while foreign entries and exits soared to a record high of over 5.36 million, a 36.7% growth involving visitors from 194 countries and regions.

"Earlier, lengthy visa procedures made trips to China complicated. Now, with the visa-free policy, I can come to Guangzhou anytime for projects," said British businessman James Wilson, after completing a 240-hour transit visa exemption at the airport on November 15.
The surge has been largely driven by expanded visa-free policies, including unilateral visa exemption for nationals of 48 countries and 240-hour transit visa waivers for travelers from 55 countries. Visa-free foreign entries exceeded 1.24 million, up 114.5% year-on-year. During the 137th and 138th Canton Fair sessions, nearly 300,000 overseas buyers entered through the airport, a 30% increase from previous sessions.
