Marking the opening day of the 138th Canton Fair, the exhibition "Shared Prosperity: A Millennium of Guangdong's Foreign Trade" was launched at the Guangdong Museum on October 15, 2025.

Through over 200 cultural relics from the museum and national collections, it chronicles a thousand years of Guangdong's commercial history, showcasing the province's unique position in China's global trade.

Like a "vanguard vessel" in China's foreign trade history, Guangdong has consistently transformed its coastal location and river networks into gateways for openness.

From the Tang-Song maritime trade systems, through its Qing-era peak as China's sole international port, to the Canton Fair's establishment and the recent development of free trade zones and the Greater Bay Area, the province has continually embraced global opportunities through changing times.

Organized into four sections — Profit and Governance, Ships and Merchants, East Meets West, and New Waves of Trade — the exhibition presents Guangdong's full evolution into a global trading hub.

The exhibition will run through October 15, 2026.
