A large intelligent aquatic product center designed to be integrated with trading, logistics, exhibition, e-commerce and cultural tourism in the aquatic industry has opened in the Liwan district of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.

Sitting on the bank of the Pearl River, with a construction area of 110,000 square meters, the Huangsha Aquatic Product Center has become one of the most important "food baskets" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The center is a development of the 31-year-old aquatic product trading market in the city's downtown Huangsha area. Since its establishment in 1994, the Huangsha aquatic product trading market has gradually grown into one of the largest live seafood trading markets in China, with an annual trading volume exceeding 320,000 tons and an annual transaction value surpassing 12.7 billion yuan (US$ 1.78 billion).

Constructed by Guangzhou Port Group, the new aquatic center integrates three major business segments — a live seafood trading market, aquatic product logistics and distribution, and the chilled and frozen products market.

Leveraging its complete modern aquatic supply chain system that covers deep-sea fishing, processing and trade, cold chain logistics, market operations, online transactions and food safety testing, the center aims to be the largest and most comprehensive centralized aquatic product trading platform in South China.
