Guangdong Museum extends opening hours with 4 can't-miss exhibitions

To enhance your visit experience, Guangdong Museum will extend its opening hours during the summer holiday (July 8 - August 31):


Saturdays to Thursdays: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (last admission at 5 p.m.)


Fridays: 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:30 p.m.)


Closed on Mondays as usual

Play Together: Toys Housed in Museums


Time: June 27 - September 21, 2025


Venue: Hall 2, third floor, Guangdong Museum


Admission: free (reservation is needed) 


Step into a magical world of childhood at Guangdong Museum, this toy-themed exhibition exhibits 240 precious sets of historical toys from renowned collections across China.


The Ritual Culture of Xia, Shang, Zhou Dynasties in the Central China


Time: July 5 - October 12, 2025


Venue: Special exhibition hall, third floor, Guangdong Museum


Admission: free (reservation is needed) 


A total of 253 exhibits including jade artifacts, ceramics and bronze ware housed by Henan Museum, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology are presented.


One Century on the Strings: Gaohu and Guangdong Folk Music Culture


Time: August 15 - November 15, 2025


Venue: Hall 1, third floor, Guangdong Museum


Admission: free (reservation is needed) 


Focuses on the Gaohu, a quintessential musical instrument of Guangdong province, this exhibition showcases a collection of local music artifacts and cultural heritage. Through three key perspectives — historical origins, musical artistry, and cultural influence — the exhibition immerses visitors in the artistic charm of the Gaohu and Guangdong folk music.


Crown of Elegance: Court Life and Art of Savory in the 18th century


Time: July 15 - October 19, 2025


Venue: Hall 3, third floor, Guangdong Museum


Admission: 68 yuan per adult


This exhibition brings together 166 rare artifacts/collections from the Savoy Royal House of Italy, all making their first debut in China. The diverse selection includes coins, paintings, furniture and costumes as well as porcelain, silverware and decorative fans.
