Chinese tennis icon Zheng Qinwen reached the women's singles quarterfinals at this year's French Open, drawing widespread attention from Chinese viewers. Beyond the courts, Guangzhou-based WeRide, in partnership with Renault, provided L4 autonomous shuttle service during the tournament, leaving people in awe.

During last year's event, WeRide's shuttles demonstrated strong safety and reliability in real, busy urban traffic conditions.

"Since launching the pilot, we no longer ask if society is ready for autonomous public transport because we've seen the answer is yes. Rather than a promise for the future, it's already happening," according to Patrick Vergelas, an autonomous mobility project leader of Renault, the other public transport service provider of French Open.

As part of Europe's green public transport strategies, WeRide and Renault have tested and operated autonomous shuttles in Paris, Valence (southern France), Barcelona, and other cities, expanding the technology's reach in Europe.

WeRide's shuttles are now commercially deployed in 30 cities worldwide for testing and operations, spanning China, Singapore, Switzerland, France, and Japan.
