Guangzhou to launch vibrant art season this May

Starting from May, art enthusiasts in Guangzhou will be lucky enough to embrace 46 exhibitions of different themes, kicking off the summer with bountiful creations.


Let's take a quick peek at some of them.


1. Guangzhou Illustration Art Season


The carnival will bring together renowned artists from home and abroad, independent creators and pioneer brands to hold over 60 activities, which cover illustration art, interactive installation and digital media display.


Time: From May 1 to August 31


Venue: Guangzhou People's Arts Center


2. The 1st Bay Area Contemporary Art Biennial Exhibition — New Amphitheater of Time


Comprised of nearly 100 art pieces created by 33 artists, the exhibition aims to showcase contemporary avant-garde works with four units, including a combination show integrating a contemporary dance performance and a talk show.


Time: From May 1 to August 1


Venue: Guangzhou Museum of Art


3. Fluid Art Exhibition by Chen Disheng and Lin Ruihong


Combining artificial intelligence with fluid art, the show is the first of its kind in Guangzhou. And visitors will have a chance to take part in a DIY scented candle session.


Time: Run until May 26


Venue: Guangzhou Orchid Garden


4. Treasures of the Greater Bay Area: the Splendor of Cantonese Porcelain — Traditional and Contemporary Art Exhibition from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao


Divided into three sections, the exhibition aims to present the 300-year evolution of Cantonese porcelain via works by craftsmen from Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao.


Time: Run until July 31


Venue: The circular gallery on the ground floor of Canton Tower


5. Art Encounters with Jay


The show, curated by Jay Chou, is drawing to a close. Visitors can seize the last chance to feel the allure of the integration of art and music through the creations of the crossover pop doyen. 


Time: Run until May 4
