Guangdong launches "Millions Talent Gather in South Guangdong" initiative

Guangdong Provincial High-Quality Development Conference has set a clear focus on AI and robotics, signaling the launch of the "Millions Talent Gather in South Guangdong" initiative for the new year. From February 27 to March 2, the 2025 Spring Talent Recruitment Fair for East China, organized by the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province was held in Shanghai and Zhejiang.

Top institutions and enterprises from Guangdong, including Pengcheng Laboratory, Guangzhou Laboratory, Honor Device Co., Ltd., and Midea Group, participated in the event, offering 715 job positions spanning data supply, computing power, algorithm platform development, and product applications with annual salaries reaching up to one million yuan. Among these positions, 57.8% are for candidates with master's or doctoral degrees.

Guangdong boasts a comprehensive manufacturing industry, integrating traditional, emerging, and future industries. The province has nurtured eight trillion-yuan industrial clusters, and behind this large-scale recruitment effort lies Guangdong's strong emphasis on talent in building a modern industrial system.

The initiative goes beyond talent acquisition — it also aims to attract projects. The event served as more than just a recruitment fair; the Guangdong delegation, including research institutes and enterprises, visited key national laboratories in universities to foster closer collaboration between businesses and academic institutions in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta. This deepens the integration of innovation, technology and industry.

Officials from the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province promoted employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in the province, advocating for long-term partnerships with universities. Measures such as setting up reciprocal talent workstations, sharing talent supply-demand information, organizing targeted job-matching sessions, and arranging study tours and internships for graduates in Guangdong aim to encourage more young talents to pursue careers in the province.

With the government providing support, enterprises taking the lead, and universities actively participating, this "iron triangle" collaboration model has become Guangdong's formula for precise talent acquisition. The event showcased that Guangdong's talent strategy is not merely a competition for top talents but part of a broader effort to reshape its talent ecosystem.

The Greater Bay Area continuously attracts talents from around the world. Lv, a student from the School of Artificial Intelligence at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, headed straight to Guangdong-based AI companies upon arriving at the event. "Cities like Shenzhen are hubs for cutting-edge technology, offering abundant opportunities and platforms," he said.

Zhong Hexihui, a control systems and robotics major from the University of Manchester, submitted multiple resumes to Guangdong enterprises. "I'm from Jiangsu and Zhejiang area, but I'm drawn to Guangdong's talent policies and see great career prospects there," she said.

This talent recruitment event marks the beginning of Guangdong's 2025 talent acquisition efforts. On March 16, a nationwide talent fair — the 2025 National Urban Joint Recruitment Fair for College Graduates (Spring Session) — will launch in Canton Fair Complex. Once again, Guangdong extends an invitation to young talents across the country, "Come to Guangdong, build your future here, and contribute to its development."
