UPDATED :2025-02-14

A vertiport hub for urban air mobility (UAM) is being built near Pazhou Ferry Terminal, Haizhu district of Guangzhou, as announced at the district's High-quality Development Conference on February 7.

In addition to the hub, low-altitude flight operation platform, aircraft (helicopter) flight operation and supporting facilities are also included in the Haizhu (Pazhou) low-altitude flight operation center project, which is expected to be completed by May and fully operational by July this year.

Once the project completed, inter-city low-altitude flight routes will be launched, covering an array of destinations in Guangdong province such as Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Zengcheng, Conghua and Nansha districts, as well as Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao cities.

Lv Yong, president of Ruohang Group, which has been participating in the project, introduced that with an area of 6,000 square meters, the project is capable of handling six helicopters or aircraft taking off or landing simultaneously.

According to Lv, upon completion, it will only take 9 minutes for tourists by helicopter from Pazhou Ferry Terminal to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, and 26 minutes to Hong Kong International Airport, greatly shortening passenger's travel time.
