The 2025 Guangfu Temple Fair opens on February 12, coinciding with the Lantern Festival. The Temple Fair takes the Zhongyou Square of the City God Temple (城隍庙忠佑广场) as its main venue, with Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street, Meihuacun (梅花村) Street, Kuangquan (矿泉) Street, and the Five Immortals Daoist Temple as supporting venues.
Conducted both online and offline, the seven-day event will offer a rich array of contents including cultural performances, intangible cultural heritage, and gourmet food. The event allows the public to experience the charm of Cantonese folk customs during the Lantern Festival.
Interactive games with visitors will be held in Zhongyou Square every day to promote Cantonese culture. Additionally, a variety of cultural performances will be held in the streets and alleys of Yuexiu district, showcasing Cantonese opera, Cantonese songs, Cantonese nursery rhymes, Cantonese storytelling, Guangdong lion dance, Guangdong music, and martial arts. Visitors will have the opportunity to feel the splendor of Cantonese culture.
An exhibition of intangible cultural heritage will be held on Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street. Meihuacun Street and Kuangquan Street will feature Cantonese folk customs, including a parade, quyi performance, dragon dance and lion dance, as well as banquets at ancestral halls.
Visitors can also sample a variety of gourmet food at Huifu Lu (惠福路) in the Yuexiu district, including specialty dishes like baked crab with cheese and steamed oysters from five-star hotel; Jun'an steamed pork and fish soup from Shunde's renowned restaurant; and a selection of Cantonese snacks like Lunjiao cakes and Chencun noodles.
