Chun Yuan 春园
Located on Nos. 22, 24 and 26, Xinhepu Lu (新河浦路), Chun Yuan comprises three western-style buildings side by side.
Back in the June of 1923, the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held at the building on No. 24 of the road. A number of well-known figures of the party had lived and worked at the very place, including Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao, Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, Xiang Jingyu, Zhang Tailei, alongside with Hendricus Sneevliet, a representative of the Communist International.
Chun, meaning "spring" in English, also stands for a season full of vitality in Chinese.
The complex, reflecting not only a combination of eastern and western architectural styles, but also a collision between classical and modern elements, witnessed the sprouting stage of CPC a century ago.
