The east extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 3 was open on November 1. After its opening, Nansha residents on Metro Line 4 can conveniently transfer to Line 3 at Haibang station.

In the morning of October 30, Guangzhou Metro Group announced that the east extension of Metro Line 3 (Panyu Square to Haibang) had successfully completed the construction and project acceptance, passed the initial pre-operational safety assessment, and was scheduled to open on November 1.

The east extension of Metro Line 3, serving as the east-west transportation backbone in Panyu district, starts from Panyu Square Station in the west and extends eastward along the Yayun Avenue (亚运大道) to Haibang Station to interchange with Metro Line 4. The 9.6-kilometer-long extension line is fully underground, with four stations: Bangjiang Station, Shiqinan Station, Haichonglu Station and Haibang Station.

Guangzhou Metro Line 4

After the opening of the extension line, Metro Line 3 will maintain its existing Y-shaped operation mode "Airport North — Haibang" and "Tianhe Coach Terminal — Haibang" during operation hours. The "Airport North — Haibang" train takes about 87 minutes one way, while the "Tianhe Coach Terminal — Haibang" train takes about 57 minutes.

In addition, during the morning rush hours, short lines of Metro Line 3 "Tonghe — Tiyu Xilu" and "Tianhe Coach Terminal/Airport North — Dashi" will continue to be run in order to alleviate the intense passenger flow pressure.
