Over 58 million tourists visited Guangdong in National Day holiday

According to data from the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Guangdong welcomed 58.481 million tourists during the National Day holiday (October 1 - October 7), achieving a year-on-year increase of 6.2%. The tourism revenue reached 53.69 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 8.9%.


Guangzhou launched over 2,000 cultural and tourism activities under the theme of "Golden Week in Guangzhou, Happy Times in Guangzhou." During the holiday, Guangzhou received 14.41 million visitors, which shows a year-on-year increase of 3.7%; and handled 250,000 inbound and outbound tourists, reflecting a 50% year-on-year growth. Cultural and tourism consumption exceeded 11.26 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 2.2%. 


Notably, the visitor traffic of Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street reached a record high of 3.706 million, up 10.8% year-on-year, with an expected revenue of 890 million yuan.


At the same time, the expansion of transportation network has further facilitated travel between cities in Guangdong.


On October 7, the Meizhou-Longchuan high-speed railway transported about 25,000 passengers, setting a new record since its opening on September 14. During the National Day holiday, the railway sent about 165,000 passengers, with a daily average of 18,000 passenger trips.


The newly built Shantou high-speed railway station experienced sustained high passenger flows for return trips on October 7, with an expected 43,000 passengers departing and 21,000 arriving. During the National Day holiday, Shantou Station transported over 250,000 passengers, with a daily average of 28,000 departures, marking a 12% year-on-year increase.


Zhongshan city embraced the first National Day holiday travel boom after the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. By October 7, the city had received over 3.4 million tourists, generating nearly 2 billion yuan in tourism revenue.
