With the arrival of autumn, the city of Guangzhou in South China welcomes the beautiful season. In this season, SilkRoadPost recommends hiking and cycling in the outskirts to feast your eyes on the colorful autumn scenery.
Xingxi hiking route 星溪线
Xingxi Line is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in Guangzhou city, passing through Dongxing village, Wakeng, Zhongxin village, Maoping village, Jin village and Xitou village.
The route stretches about 10 kilometers, and is estimated to take four to five hours to complete. Visitors can enjoy nature and rural scenery along the way, including bamboo forest, plum orchard, orange orchard, maple trees, waterfalls and streams. At the destination, Xitou village, which is called the most beautiful village in Guangdong province, visitors can taste sweet tofu pudding and grilled rice in bamboo tubes.
Yinggu hiking route 影古线
Yinggu Line is about 30 kilometers in total, including the villages of Congying, Xitou, Xiaxi and Gutian.
It is highly recommended to visit the maple forest in Xiaxi village. The best time to see the maple trees is from November to February, when the green leaves give way to deep reds and dazzling yellows. In Gutian village, visitors can admire breathtaking glacial potholes. Bird lovers can also enjoy a hike along the route and spot wild birds such as the plumbeous water redstart, orange-bellied leafbird, scarlet minivet and white-crowned forktail.
Cycling route
Guangzhou is building a total of 520 kilometers of cycling routes traversing mountains and water areas. And one of the routes is in the city’s outskirts of Conghua district, starting from Taiping town (太平镇) and ending at Liuxi River National Forest Park. Along the way, cyclists can visit tourist attractions such as the Guangzhou Branch of the China National Archives of Publications and Culture, Hot Spring Resort, Mibu (米埗) Town, Congdu Wetland Park, Ecological Design Town, or forest parks such as Liuxi River National Forest Park, Shimen National Forest Park and Fengyunling (风云岭) Forest Park.
