Maofeng Mountain in Guangzhou’s Baiyun district is painted red by maple leaves, bringing an ambience of autumn to visitors.

About 2,000 maple trees growing on a vast field of nearly 10,000 square meters have turned red early in the mountain this year.

The main species planted is Acer palmatum Thunb., commonly known as Japanese maple, distinguished by smooth and slender branches and feather-shaped leaves. The trees usually grow to a height of 2-4 meters, which is easy for people to appreciate and take photos with.

The viewing period of red maple leaves in the mountain will continue through October 31, and the best time is during the National Day holiday (October 1-7).

From now to the end of the viewing period, tourists are able to enjoy discounted tickets and special benefits as follows:

1. Buy one get one free ticket

2. Unlimited access with tickets purchased on the day

3. Free admission for people wearing hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing)

4. Chance to win fancy gifts from a lucky draw on site

5. 12% discount for a roasted chicken dish at designated restaurants with tickets purchased on the day

Maofeng Mountain was rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province in July this year. The scenic area is rich in negative oxygen ion content, reaching up to 17,000/cm³, making it a natural oxygen bar. Layers of hills, dense forests and clear streams make up peaceful scenery that can relax people's minds.

Maofeng Mountain also boasts the highest peak in Guangzhou, at an altitude of 534.9 meters.
