In recent years, more and more fireflies have been discovered in many scenic spots in Guangzhou, like the Baiyun Mountain, the Maofeng Mountain and the South China National Botanical Garden, indicating the improvement of the city's environment.

Meanwhile, the appreciation of fireflies has been incorporated into Guangzhou's nature education as more and more activities have been carried out to encourage citizens especially children to observe beautiful fireflies.
