When the weather gets hot, heading to the outskirts and hanging out in the forest parks become a top choice for many residents in Guangzhou.

A water splashing festival is currently underway at Liuxi River National Forest Park (流溪河国家森林公园) in Guangzhou's Conghua district. 

The forest park is mainly comprised of two scenic areas — Wuzhishan Mountain (五指山) and Liuxihu (流溪湖). And the exciting and thrilling water splashing festival is kicked off at the Poshui (泼水) Square of Wuzhishan. 

People here can hold their containers and splash water on one another, as a way to deliver good luck and wishes, and enjoy coolness.

The water splashing event will last till August 18. During the festival, live performances are put on from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every weekend, adding to the fun vibe for visitors.

Meanwhile, people can go hiking and explore the beauty of Sanyatang (三桠塘), or ramble along the river in Liuxihu scenic area and marvel at the magnificence of the clear water.

It is noted that the admission fees for the forest park now have a 50% discount until August 18.
