The first phase of Huawei Research and Development Center of Guangzhou is expected to finish construction in September this year, which will also be the first of its kind in the city.
The research base plans to delve into smart vehicles, cloud computing and the internet of things, accelerating the application of information and communications technology (ICT) in various industries of Guangzhou.
The project also seeks to become an innovation hub of smart city, 5G as well as the integration of industrialization and informatization, which aims to prompt the development of future industrial clusters consisting of intelligent automobiles and driverless vehicles, and serve as an exemplar of pilot zone construction.

The brownish red brick walls and bright curtain walls provide a modern sense intertwining with elegant charm.
Among the buildings, the tallest one is the research and development building, which boasts 17 storeys. The staff canteens are adjoining each other by corridors.
A number of facilities are prepared to put into operation, including lighting, ceilings, floor, office spaces and conference rooms. Besides, the center has two entrances, with the main one located on Qingqiao Street (青桥街), the other one on Songnan Lu (松南路), both in Baiyun district.
So far, nine towers of the project have been capped off with subdivisional work in different progress.
