Borrowing rules of city libraries to be adjusted

BY :SilkRoadPost

UPDATED :2024-04-25

Starting from May 1, the book borrowing rules of public libraries in Guangzhou will be adjusted. The new rules will go through a two-month trial period.

According to the new rules, the number of books that can be borrowed by a reader will be increased from 30 to 40, the largest number allowed among public libraries in China. And the holding time for borrowed books will be shortened from 31 days to 21 days. However, the renewal chance will be increased from one to three times, allowing readers to keep the books for up to 84 days.

Besides, a point system will be introduced in public libraries across the city. A total of 900 initial points will be given to each reader. And readers can earn bonus points by borrowing books, attending lectures, and participating in activities organized by public libraries. The points can be used to deduct fines for late return of books.
