Crispy roast goose is a famous dish in Guangdong province. And “Shenjing roast goose (深井烧鹅)” in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district is among one of the most renowned. In January this year, a museum dedicated to Shenjing roast goose was opened to the public.

Characterized by crispy skin and tender meat, Shenjing roast goose takes its name from the ancient village of Shenjing on Changzhou Island (长洲岛) in Huangpu district, and also from "Shenjing", or deep well, referring to the production of roasting goose in the well.

The first floor of the museum shows delicious roast geese hanging on poles, as well as the history, techniques and steps of making roast goose. The second floor is a restaurant with Shenjing roast goose as the main dish. The restaurant has a ceremony for the fresh-from-the-well roast geese at 12 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day.
