As one of the cities to hold sports events of the 15th National Games in 2025, Guangzhou will conduct a series of revamp in its Tianhe Sports Center. The makeover also aims to build a fitness park for the public after the games conclude.

The transformation project comprises a sports field, an indoor stadium and an aquatics stadium.

The sports field will go through a number of improvements on several parts, including facades, aluminium sheets of ceilings on each side, the southern LED screen and sites for competitions.

As for the indoor stadium, assorted rooms will be classified based on their designated functions. And multiple entrances and exits will be used for shunting operations. There will also be two makeshift restrooms for spectators on the second floor.

Besides, the aquatics stadium will be renovated on its facades alongside a provisional restroom on the ground floor. Meanwhile, a rented space will be retrieved and serve as a room for news conference and media work.

Covering an outdoor area of nearly 200,000 square meters, the outdoor landscape enhancement project will be divided into a sports and cultural axis, a sports and ecological axis, an ecological and art park, and a boundless leisure and sports loop park.

Seats for spectators will be reduced in all sports venues but basketball courts, which will be increased from zero to 600.

It is required that the project should put several aspects into consideration, including urban design, landscape improvements, cultural demonstration, energy saving, public convenience as well as barrier-free facilities.
