UPDATED :2024-03-13

Located on Longxingxi (龙兴西) Lu of Longgui (龙归) Street, the first blueberry picking garden of Guangzhou’s Baiyun district opens to the public lately. The main variety planted in the garden is Yunguan (云冠), a type of big blueberry known for its scent, sweetness and crisp texture. It has entered its peak picking season which is expected to run through the end of May.

Blueberries are a member of the Ericaceae family which are perennial, evergreen or low shrubs.

The garden covers an area of approximately 25 mu with nearly 10,000 blueberry trees, on which Eureka blueberries and Yunguan blueberries are largely planted. Yunguan is subordinate to southern highland blueberries, a kind of featured product of the garden, with annual output of over 2,000 jin (or 1,000 kilograms).

To ward off insect pests and diseases and contamination, imported organic soil has been adopted in planted area alongside a totally-enclosed environment, according to Liu Zhanpeng, the manager of the garden.
