The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) short film and television industry base opened at the Nansha International Cruise Home Port, one of Asia's largest cruise home port complexes, local media outlets reported on January 31.

Located at the Pearl River estuary and the geographical center of the GBA, Nansha International Cruise Home Port creates a "half-hour traffic circle" with the cities in the GBA. The Nansha Yacht Club, where the inauguration ceremony was held, was the filming location for "The Mermaid," directed by Stephen Chow.

The base will empower industrial development with "three platforms, three centers, and one guide". It will promote the integrated development of film and television with cultural tourism, technology, finance, urban services, and other related industries, accelerating the improvement of the modern film and television industry system, and creating a new engine for the film and television industry in Nansha district.

With excellent geographical location, the establishment of the industry base, and the support of favorable policies and access to talents, Nansha will join hands with Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions to create a new highland for the film and television industry.
