The upgrade of Lychee Bay scenic area in Liwan district has been completed recently, providing the public with more stunning night views.

The upgrade includes improvements to waterfront areas, squares, under-bridge areas, a pocket park, and illumination facilities along scenic spots such as Liwan Lake, Xiguan mansions, Yongqingfang (永庆坊), and Cantonese Opera Art Museum.

The upgrade is themed on bridges, with a total of 12 bridges from various times having new looks, namely Longjin Bridge (龙津桥), Dexing Bridge (德兴桥), Daguan Bridge (大观桥), Zhishan Bridge (至善桥), Rouji Bridge (柔济桥), Shimin Bridge (时敏桥), Yingou Bridge (银钩桥), Yushan Bridge (羽扇桥), Duobao Bridge (多宝桥), Baoyue Bridge (抱月桥), Dieyue Bridge (叠月桥), and Hongyue Bridge (虹月桥).

Among the 12 bridges, some of them are notable for their water reflections that resemble the changes of the moon. For instance, the Yingou Bridge bears a resemblance to a crescent moon, the Yushan Bridge to a waxing moon, the Baoyue Bridge to a gibbous moon, and the Dieyue Bridge to a full moon.

Dieyue Bridge is the most popular bridge, attracting large crowds of tourists to take photos every day. And the Hongyue Bridge was inspired by the Hong Bridge from the classic long-scroll painting, Qingming Shanghe Tu (Along the River During the Qingming Festival).
