Locally bred crucian carp recognized as national-level new varieties

The 2023 China Aquatic Seeding Expo and the first Guangdong (International) Modern Marine Ranching Industry Conference was held in Nansha from November 25 to 26.
The conference saw the participation of around 300 companies and showcased over 200 economic varieties in the field of aquaculture.
Alongside the exhibitions, the event also featured a variety of forums, a 200-pound giant grouper in a tank, and a "fish king" auction of goldfish.
At the opening ceremony, the 2023 list of national aquacultural new varieties was released, with 17 new aquacultural varieties showcased.
Among the new varieties, Suifengji (穗丰鲫), a locally bred crucian carp, earned a spot on the list. It is the sole nationally approved new variety of aquacultural products in Guangdong province for 2023. Currently, Suifengji fingerlings are available for sale nationwide, with 1 billion produced each year.
