As this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Guangzhou Metro on October 20 displayed a special 100-meter-long scroll painting that depicts the fruitful results of the BRI over the past decade, and the customs and cultures of participating countries and regions.

The remarkable scroll is displayed at the Baiyundadaobei (白云大道北) Station of Metro Line 3 for a month. It is a claborate-style painting created by a group of skillful painters by hand, integrating the cultural icons of over 100 countries involved in the BRI.

Starting from the Chinese city of Xi'an, the scroll takes people on a journey through Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Oceania, beautifully blending the ancient with the modern. Traditional architecture and new development projects, joyfully running children, graceful dancers, and cheerful fruit farmers, the scroll illustrates the communication among civilizations across time and shows a path toward common prosperity and mutual benefits.

In addition, selections of the scroll that focus on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road are being exhibited at the Canton Tower metro station, featuring the landscapes of Quanzhou, Guangzhou and other Chinese port cities, as well as the Zheng He statue in Semarang, Indonesia, the Merlion in Singapore, the China-Laos Railway, oceangoing ships, and the Gwadar Port in Pakistan.

To find out more details of the masterpiece, visitors can scan a QR code on the painting to start an AR immersive Silk Road travel experience.
