New books on Hepu's sea trade history released

A new set of four books about the history of sea trade in Hepu, Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were released recently, publishing part of the results of over 20 cultural studies Hepu carried out on topics such as its association with the ancient Maritime Silk Road, the archaeological discoveries of tombs of Han dynasty and the craftsmanship of artifacts unearthed.

This set of books was only the first part of the new books series on cultural studies Hepu plans on publishing, in order to provide academic support for its Maritime Silk Road heritage. Four or five more sets of books will be launched in the future.

Hepu county of Beihai was one of the starting ports of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. It boasts a bunch of cultural heritage sites, such as the tomb cluster from Han dynasty, the Ruins of Dalang Ancient City and the Historical Site of Caoxie Village. These sites were witness to the prosperity of sea trade in the area in ancient times.
