A photo exhibition titled "the Broad Yangcheng—Guangzhou and the Maritime Silk Road" opened at the Zhanghe Museum in Nanyang city of Henan province, on April 18.

The exhibition was co-organized by the Archaeological Site Museum of the Nanyue Palace and Zhangheng Museum, and lasts through the end of this year.

The exhibition is divided into three parts—Natural Port, Thousand years of Prosperity, and Cultural Treasure—which introduce respectively to visitors the development of Guangzhou's foreign trade in the past 2000 years. More than 100 sets of pictures and 50 panels are on exhibit.

As one of the major departure ports along the ancient sea route, Guangzhou has long been a hub for cultural and trade exchanges with foreign countries due to its advantageous geographic location.

There are a variety of cultural and historical heritage still remaining in Guangzhou, as the city kept close connections with the outside world in the past 2,000 years.

These cultural heritage includes the Palace Site of the Nanyue and Nanhan kingdoms, the Tomb of King Zhao Mo of the Nanyue Kingdom, Guangxiao Buddhist Temple, Huaisheng Mosque and its Minaret, Tomb of Sa'd Abi Waqqas and the Nanhai God Temple.
