Intl. children's film festival to kick off in Guangzhou

The 13th China International Children's Film Festival will be held in the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center from November 15 to 19 and will make Guangzhou its permanent home after this festival,  announced the authority.
This year's festival received a total of 128 entries from 23 countries and regions, of which 19 films, five from China and 14 from abroad, were selected for the final competition and 43 for screening. The selected films, which are rich in styles and innovative in perspective, have themes ranging from comedy to animation and adventure.

Sixty-two films will be shown in nearly 100 middle and primary schools and three children's palaces in Guangzhou and in 15 cinemas in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. About 30 percent of the tickets will be offered to the public with prices ranging from 20 to 30 yuan. Also, the festival's organizing committee is cooperating with the movie channel of CCTV to screen some of the movies on the channel during the fete.

Kids attending the festival will not only be able to watch movies but also take part in the festival activities. Officials will select 300 child judges as well as 400 child hosts and voice actors to join in activities like selecting their favorite films and meeting with film crew members.

Also, the festival will specially adapt some excellent films and give free screenings to children in special schools. Another special show for children with autism will be added to enable autistic kids to get in touch with children’s films and enjoy the atmosphere of the festival.
