For the fifth time in six years, Guangzhou has been selected as one of China’s most attractive cities for foreigners in a 2016 survey of expats living and working in the country.

The findings of the “2016 Amazing China — the Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners” survey showed that Guangzhou's strength as a popular residence was based on municipal policies, administration, and working and living environment. The survey has been conducted successfully for six years since 2011 to promote Chinese cities among foreigners.

Some 18 indices were used by the survey to gauge a city’s attractiveness. Guangzhou led in policies, administration and working environment, and its support for entrepreneurship overshot other cities. Meanwhile, the city received above average scores in categories like rights protection, administration environment, salary, children’s education, and public civilization.

This honor stems from Guangzhou’s efforts to attract talented individuals from overseas and create favorable living and working environments for foreigners, according to officials of the Guangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
