International passengers flying with China Southern Airlines and departing from the Baiyun International Airport can now use the airport’s through check-in service to get boarding passes for and check in their baggage to their final destinations.
The through check-in service was recently expanded to all China Southern’s international flights — 150 flights on 53 routes — after a trial operation which started in June 2012.
Passengers, however, need to be aware of that the through check-in service only covers the China Southern flights leaving the Baiyun International Airport. For other airlines and airports, passengers are advised to inquire whether through check-in is offered.
Also, passengers taking international flights should fill in baggage declaration forms and submit them to local customs. Declared articles should be placed in hand baggage. If the declared articles are too large to be carried onto a plane, passengers have to make it clear to the working staff and fasten a customs declaration tag to their bags.
