The rail track for Metro Line 21, which connects Tianhe, Huangpu and Zengcheng, will soon be laid.
The engineering cost of the rail track is about 1.06 billion yuan. The work primarily involves laying tracks for the main and branch lines. By the end of last November, 54 percent of the construction projects for Metro Line 21 had been completed.
Line 21 starts from Tianhe district in the west, goes through Huangpu and Zengcheng districts, and ends at Zengcheng Square on Licheng Jie in Zengcheng district.
The initial length of the line is approximately 61.5 kilometers. The underground section runs about 42.5 kilometers, a mountain tunnel extends 6.8 kilometers, and the overground portion runs 12.2 kilometers. A total of 21 stations will serve the full line, including 17 underground stations and four elevated ones. Seven transfer stations are located on Line 21.
Construction of eight stations has been completed, which include Tangdong, Huangcun, Grand World, IBD, Shenzhou Road, Science Plaza, Zhongxin and Zhonggang.
