The new "water bus" ferry trip, which opened just before National Day, quickly became a hot travel option in Guangzhou, with a total of 7969 voyages carrying 6,620,000 passengers in the past seven days.

"It's much more comfortable than taking the bus or subway. The ferry is beautiful, well-equipped and very steady. People can enjoy the view on the riversides." said a passenger surnamed Liang.

According to the Pier staff, tens of thousands of people would come to experience the trip every day during the holiday. Among the 8 routes, Canton Tower and Jinsha Zhou are the most popular ones especially the last ferry of the day for the Canton Tower. There is no difference with the expensive night cruises on the Pearl River which promise a delightful views of the glowing canton tower, but you have to be lucky to catch this voyage.

According to a recent statistics, the three new routes saw a record of 1,870,000 passengers during the holiday and Jinsha Zhou Pier embraced a peak of 9843 passengers on Oct. 2, more than double the number on the first day of its operation.
