A promotional session for the upcoming South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF), which will take place from June 12 to 18 in Kunming, Yunnan province, was held in Wuzhou Guest House in Shenzhen on March 6.

The fair, co-sponsored by the China Chamber of International Commerce, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ASEAN-China Center, will include 18 pavilions and 8,000 booths in an area that covers about 180,000 square meters.

Themed "Creating new opportunities and seeking new development," the expo aims to deepen communication between China and South and Southeast Asia and facilitate policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bonds. It will serve as a platform to promote multilateral diplomacy, economic and trade cooperation, as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Government and business leaders discussed at the meeting the investment and trade development of Yunnan province and Shenzhen, which are now working on cooperative projects under the SSACEIF banner.

Gao Yuyue, deputy secretary general of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, said in his speech that Shenzhen is a window of China's reform and opening up and a national base of independent innovation. For a long time, Shenzhen and Yunnan have maintained good cooperation relations and Shenzhen will make full use of the SSACEIF platform to further strengthen their cooperation, utilize the advantages of both sides, and actively organize enterprises to attend the fair to seek mutual benefit.

Yunnan has seen increased cooperation on global economic and trade projects and is open to higher-level and closer contact with the rest of Asia and the world.
