A photo exhibition, “Memoria del Peru:1890 - 1950 .” is being held at the Guangzhou Library through May 15. The show is hosted jointly by the Peruvian Consulate General in Guangzhou and the library.

This historical Peruvian photo exhibition is being presented for the second time in China, after its premiere in Beijing last October. The show, which is intended to present Peru’s historical roots, displays a series of old photographs. It also shows the lives of Chinese immigrants in Peru to demonstrate the historical ties and friendship between the two countries.

“The value of the photo exhibition seeks to expose the roots of what constitutes the present Peru, a country resulting from the blend of Spanish and native Andean heritage,” said David Gamarra Silva, the consul general of Peru.

The exhibition features 84 photos depicting natural scenery, historical and cultural heritage, and social development from the end of 19th century to mid 20th century.

Date: Through May 15
Venue: Guangzhou Library
Address: 4 Zhujiang Dong Lu, Zhujiang New Town
